TAMPA, Fla., November 16, 2017 – Transflo, a leader in enterprise mobility, telematics, and business process automation for the transportation industry, is introducing its next-generation telematics and electronic logging device (ELD) solution to fleets and owner-operators affiliated with Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), one of the five largest truckload carriers in the United States.
Werner executives are implementing a program that makes the next-generation Transflo Telematics solution available to more than 12,000 carriers at Werner Logistics, a diversified portfolio that includes truck brokerage, freight management, intermodal, international, and final mile services.
The new program allows small fleets to quickly move from manually recording time logs on paper to having them automatically recorded on their smartphone. The electronic logging device is connected to the engine of the truck and transmits driving data, populating the electronic logs in the Transflo mobile app.
“For smaller fleets, it was important to refer them to an FMCSA-registered electronic logging device that uses newer technology and makes the driver experience simple,” shares Matthew Parry, Senior Vice President of Logistics at Werner Enterprises. “The Transflo ELD plugs in quickly, has a clean interface, and is affordable. Those attributes, together with driver familiarity of Transflo solutions, make this device well-suited for the program.”
Trucking companies choose one of two plans available with the Transflo Telematics solution. The first is the Standard ELD plan that addresses hours-of-service (HOS) and electronic logging compliance needs. Carriers access driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR) and data for international fuel tax agreement (IFTA) filings.
These carriers can also choose the Fleet Telematics plan, which includes all of the features of the Standard ELD plan plus more detailed reporting and analytics accessible through cloud-based software. With detailed vehicle diagnostics, engine idling and fuel consumption insights, and safety notifications, the software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution helps heavy-duty truck operators better manage their revenue-producing assets.
“We’re helping small fleets and owner-operators with adoption and compliance in many ways,” said Mitch Hixon, Vice President of Sales at Transflo. “Werner’s logistics carriers benefit from our new technology, and the brokerage arm benefits from using capacity that is compliant with ELD regulations. The program addresses a few supply chain challenges at the same time.”
Werner Enterprises and its divisions have received multiple transportation and logistics awards and have been recognized by leading industry publications. The company is listed as a Transport Topics Top 100 For-hire Carrier and Top 50 Logistics Company. Werner also utilizes Transflo’s mobile and document capture solutions.
